Civic Participation

The Federation addresses issues of inequity, inequality, injustice and discrimination in the community and nationwide. Our focus lies in advancing the wellbeing of those who are in danger of being marginalized- immigrants, the poor, women, children and the elderly. And we encourage our community members to make their voices heard.

Through our network of member agencies and community-based organizations, we encourage parents to take an active role in their child's education, new citizens to register to vote, and all community members to participate in the census and other government surveys.

To encourage everyone to participate in the 2010 Census, the Federation spearheaded the 2010 Census Community Engagement Initiative, a nearly $1 million campaign that partnered with community-based organizations and provided them with over half a million dollars in funding to support outreach efforts.
