CACF Development Associate
The Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is seeking a full-time AmeriCorps*VISTA Member to be our DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE through Project PACT, an AmeriCorps*VISTA program between six community based organizations serving children, youth, and families of diverse Asian Pacific American backgrounds. Project PACT includes CACF, Filipino American Human Services Inc. (FAHSI), Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC), MinKwon Center for Community Action, South Asian Youth Action (SAYA!), and The Sikh Coalition. The Development Associate will work with the Development Manager from July 2010 to July 2011 to oversee fundraising, special events, individual donors, membership, and public relations responsibilities. The Member will help ensure that children of all backgrounds have an equal opportunity to grow up healthy and safe!
Responsibilities:
1) Fundraising: Collaborate with Development Manager to research, cultivate, and develop ongoing relationships with foundations, corporations, government, and other funders. Design templates of funding proposals. Draft and submit proposals to funders.
2) Special Events: Assist in developing and implementing special fundraising events. Collaborate with Board of Directors, Benefit Committee, and other supporters on special events, including annual benefit gala.
3) Individual Donors: Develop individual donor cultivation strategies. Coordinate donor recognition and education events. Work with Development Manager to outreach to new and existing donors.
4) Membership: Create, manage, and update funder database. Coordinate communications with individual and organizational members.
5) Public Relations: Develop a communications and marketing plan to educate and cultivate funding prospects. Develop strategies to update and recognize funders through publications and website.
Requirements: Recommended skills and qualifications include:
1) High school diploma required. Associate or bachelor degree preferred.
2) Ability to make a full-year, full-time commitment. Cannot hold another job or be a student.
3) Commitment to CACF’s mission, children’s rights, and Asian Pacific American community.
4) Excellent speaking, writing, presentation, and critical analysis skills.
5) Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work independently and on multiple tasks under pressure.
6) Ability to work with diverse teams and collaborate with CACF staff and community partners.
7) Proficiency in PC, MS Office, email, and internet.
8) Experience in program development, fundraising, event planning, and volunteer management preferred.
9) Ability to write and speak an Asian language/dialect preferred but not required.
10) U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Monthly living allowance of $1,129 (for a total of $13,548 during year of service). Post-service education award of $4,725 or end-of-term stipend of $1,200. Health insurance coverage.
