Asian American Federation
Development Manager
Description:
The Asian American Federation, a non-profit leadership organization working with Asian American community groups, is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, organized individual for a unique opportunity in development. The Development Manager, reporting to the Donor Relations Director, will coordinate communications and development projects such as: researching/writing grant proposals and reports; and drafting quarterly newsletters, annual appeals, annual reports and website content. He/She will also assist in fundraising and donor cultivation by working on special events and database management.
Responsibilities:
Research, review and draft grant proposals and reports. Identify various funding sources.
Coordinate and organize production of as well as draft communication materials such as: annual reports, quarterly newsletters, year-end appeals, thank you letters, donor acknowledgment letters, website content and other communications as needed.
Maintain Raiser’s Edge database (ie: running queries, editing, updating). Experience with R.E. a plus.
Help coordinate, track and maintain electronic and hard copy files for all development related information.
Coordinate and organize all aspects of annual benefit gala and other fundraising events. Will work directly with Donor Relations Director, consultant(s), and Gala Committee.
Support the Gala (and potentially other) Committee(s) by attending all meetings and providing minutes, research or other information as needed.
Create and manage volunteer opportunities.
Attend speaking engagements or events to represent the Federation.
Support ‘A New Heritage of Giving’ philanthropy projects, speaking engagements, and marketing tools such as booklet and website as necessary.
Run weekly allocation/income reports for Executive Director, Fiscal Manager, and Donor Relations Director.
Will work directly with or provide support to other staff as necessary.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required; non-profit and fundraising experience preferred.
Experience working with Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Office and Internet applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Critical thinking/analysis, initiative, creativity and flexibility.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Must be able to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
Experience and interest in working with the Asian American community.
Asian language abilities a plus.
