The Asian American Federation (AAF), founded in 1989, is New York City’s most powerful leadership voice for better policies, services, and funding that lead to more justice and opportunity for Asian New Yorkers. Our mission is to raise the influence and well-being of the pan-Asian American community through research, policy advocacy, public awareness, and nonprofit support.

In collaboration with 70 member and partner community-based organizations, we serve the interests of 1.7 million New Yorkers from 20 ethnic groups—diverse in language, culture, and religion—that make up New York’s Asian community, by providing expert research and unrelenting advocacy; working with lawmakers to change policies; and training Asian nonprofits to better serve their communities.

We fight to keep the pan-Asian American community visible and to ensure our needs are met, our contributions are valued, and our stories are told.

The Asian American Federation (AAF) is seeking a consultant to expand their online mental health directory of culturally competent clinical and non-clinical service providers for Asian New Yorkers. This project will run from September 11, 2023 to December 31, 2023, with the possibility of extension through 2024.

  • Conducting outreach and follow-up to ensure the directory has at least 50 new entries quarterly;
  • Coordinating survey responses from individual providers, as well as data collection, to ensure the inclusion of at least 50 entries of individual providers;
  • Entering all data into the online directory, ensuring completion and accuracy of data;
  • Reviewing and updating current mental health directory entries to ensure the information is up-to-date;
  • Researching prospective individual providers, organizations, and hospitals in New York who/which would be appropriate to include in the directory; and
  • Working closely with the Associate Director of Programs to provide feedback on the directory design and user experience to the web developer.

The ideal consultant will possess outreach experience and knowledge of the mental health field, particularly as they relate to the pan-Asian community. Specifically, they will bring the following qualifications:

  • Prior experience in conducting outreach effectively
  • Ability to engage with a diverse range of providers in the mental health field
  • Prior experience in data collection and management
  • Technical skills in data input and data organization to build and maintain an online directory
  • Relevant professional experience in the mental health field, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of mental health terminology and resources

Compensation: $30-$33/hour, commensurate with experience
